CWRA+ Institutional Reports

CWRA+ Institutional Reports

The institutional report provides background and methodological information about CWRA+, as well as a summary of institutional data for each class tested. The content of the results may vary depending on the classes an institution samples and the windows during which it tests. We offer mastery-level and cross-sectional results. Cross-sectional results must include a testing format of entering freshmen in the fall and exiting seniors in the spring. Mastery levels are available for any cohort, including those that receive cross-sectional results. Sample CWRA+ Institutional Report

Results may include:

  • means, standard deviations, and 25th and 75th percentile scores
  • a summary of subscores for the skill areas measured by CWRA+
  • criterion-referenced mastery levels
  • growth estimates (effect sizes)
  • student sample demographics
  • student effort and engagement survey responses
  • local survey responses

Effect sizes characterize the amount of growth shown across classes and are reported in standard deviation units. (Standard deviation is a measure of the distance between the mean, or average, and all other values in a score set.) Effect sizes are calculated by subtracting the mean scores of a freshman class from the mean scores of each subsequent class and dividing these amounts by the standard deviation of the freshman scores.

CWRA+ Mastery Levels report differences in student performance related to critical thinking and written communication. These levels contextualize CWRA+ scores by interpreting test results in relation to the qualities exhibited by examinees. Each mastery level—Below Basic, Basic, Proficient, Accomplished, and Advanced—corresponds to specific degree of critical-thinking and written-communication skills.

The student data file is delivered to each institution and includes all available data for each student tested at a given institution, including CWRA+ scores and subscores, mastery levels, demographic data, and survey responses. Schools can access their reports directly from the CWRA+ Proctor Interface.

CAE also delivers student score reports directly to each student after the testing window closes. These reports include total scores, subscores, and CWRA+ Mastery Levels.
CWRA+ Subscores are reported in addition to total scores. Six subscores are reported.

Percentile Rankings
Percentile rankings allow for normative interpretations of your students’ performance. These rankings are provided for your students’ CWRA+ scores and indicate how well your institution performed relative to our norm sample.
